To get an overview of which activities are approved and can be paid for with the wellness allowance, please feel free to read our Inspiration Guide – What’s Included in the Wellness Allowance.
The wellness allowance can be used for a variety of activities that are approved according to the Swedish Tax Agency’s rules. Here are some examples:
• Gym and group training
• Running and fitness races
• Massage and preventive treatments such as smoking cessation, stress management
• Nutritional counseling and health consultations
• Activities such as bowling, go-karting, agility, and horseback riding tours.
The wellness allowance cannot be used to buy or rent equipment. For example, if your customer is going to play tennis, the activity itself counts as wellness, but if the customer rents a tennis racket in connection with the booking, they cannot use their wellness allowance to pay for the racket rental.
However, if the equipment is included in the activity – such as in a tennis lesson where the racket is included – the customer can use their wellness allowance for the entire service.
The following examples are not approved as wellness activities:
• Membership fees and licenses: Only the cost of the actual activity can be covered.
• Buying or renting equipment: The customer cannot use the allowance to buy or rent equipment.
• Beauty treatments: Cosmetic treatments are not approved.
• Healthcare: Health care or medical treatments are not approved.
• Spa entrance: Spa entrance is not approved (unless already included for free in a wellness service).
• Billiards, e-sports, and adventure pools are not approved.
• Purchases for others: The benefit is personal and cannot be used for anyone else.
• Tanning beds: Tanning beds are not approved as they are considered beauty care by the Swedish Tax Agency.
• Naprapathy, chiropractic, physiotherapy: Treatments by physiotherapists, as well as naprapathy and chiropractic, are not approved.
Please note that it is your responsibility as a provider to ensure that your services comply with the Swedish Tax Agency’s guidelines as well as Epassi’s general terms and conditions.
